THEY'RE HERE!!!

As most of you know we are a house divided.  Being Football season and all, we had to bring one of them home in Arkansas gear and one home in Kentucky gear.





On October 17th at 1:33 and 1:34 pm, Amanda gave birth to our beautiful little baby girls at 37 weeks 3 days.  We were in love from the first look.  I gotta give it to her, she did awesome!  Davin Kate was born first weighing 6 pounds 14 ounces and 19 inches.  Emma Grace was born 1 minute later weighing 7 pounds 3 ounces, also 19 inches.  We got to enjoy time with family soon after the surgery in the recovery room before Davin had to be sweeped off to the NICU.  Apparently she was so excited to see everyone that she took in a huge gulp of amniotic fluid as she made her way our to the surface.  She was admitted for 3 days to the NICU where they had to dry out her little lungs.  She made it back to the room with us Thursday morning, and we came home Friday morning.  Other than that, everything went perfect.  Everyone is doing great and gaining good weight, eating good, and actually they are sleeping really well at night.  We actually have to wake them up every 3 hours and get them awake to feed them.  The past 2 nights we have actually set the alarm, but turn it off and go back to sleep to let them tell us when they are hungry.  Usually Emma stirs first 45 minutes to an hour after the alarm.  We then have a routine of changing, getting the bottle ready and feeding. That way after the bottle, they are so tired they usually just fall back asleep.  They DO NOT like their diaper changed, so that usually wakes them up enough to take the bottle.  It's working perfect right now and could not be happier with how things are going.  We love them.  Everyone says they change and grow up so fast, and boy are they right.  Everyday is a new day full of new faces, surprises and smiles.  We can't wait to see where they are even a week from now.  We are so blessed to have these two sweet girls in our lives.
